|Iron Cupcake: London|
Originally started in America, the Iron Cupcake challenge is a great way to gain practice and experience in the world of baking whilst having fun with new friends and old.
Based at the MyPlace Center in Harold Hill, each IC event starts from 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. Bakers get in free and Eaters pay £5 on the door (£2 for under 13's and £4 for over 60's and students). Tea, coffee, hot water and milk will be supplied free of charge. Tasting begins at 3:30pm and the winners are announced when all the scores are tabulated.
From a Theme each Baker designs, bakes and decorates a batch (minimum 12) of cupcakes to bring along to be tasted and scored by a crowd of ravenous tea-fuelled Eaters. The top three cupcakes receive a prize and one chef, chosen by their peers, will also gain recognition through our Baker’s Own award. Click here for the full Rules .
Unique to our Iron Cupcake, all the prizewinning Bakers will be invited to include their recipes in a booklet that will be sold at the end of the year to raise money for St Francis Hospice.

TheMyPlace Centre is very new, and does not have many parking spaces (or appear on Google Maps). If you are driving up or not a local then it is probably best to search for Central Park Leisure Centre , RM3 9LB and park in there. MyPlace is just 100 yards north, on the Gooshays Drive/Dagnam Park Road roundabout.
